As promised I am sharing here my journal that I’ve been modifying for the Thirty Days of Thanks project. I purchased a Visual Art Journal from Hobby Lobby that has a nice heavy cover on it, then I applied some gesso and started adding different papers and some paint. I think there is still work to be done on it, so as it speaks to me we’ll see what comes.
Thank you to those of you who have said you’ll join me in this! Remember that this is a no stress kind of thing. You are not required to post anything on my blog or even on your own if you have one. You are certainly free to do that and leave comments here.
If you have never started a gratitude journal but always wanted to, then take this opportunity and begin. Perhaps you have wanted to use your camera to document what you are most grateful for. November can be that time to start.
I would love to have you share your experiences here or email me and let me know how it’s going. While I will be journaling about this each day I will not be posting about it here each day – because I believe in being kind to myself when it comes to blogging and just don’t want to have that added pressure. If you are a blogger and would like to you can grab a button here.
My goal is for us to live from a place of gratitude for the month of November. How about joining us?
“Disclaimer”: Be aware that practicing gratitude daily for thirty days may mean that it becomes a habit!
This came up as I wrote in my journal this week. For several days now I have been putting together a “project” that I hope you can join me in, and it has everything to do with being grateful.
My goal is to write or create something each day in November that reflects what I am grateful for. My camera will be involved, as well as a visual art journal that I’m making a cover for this weekend. You won’t necessarily see a blog post here each day, but at least every few days I plan to give you a summary of what has come from my heart.
For a while I thought this was just a little phase of silly thinking that I was going through, but too many words and ‘signs’ have come along to let me know that I really must do this. Most recently I finished a book by Dr. Brene Brown, The Gifts of Imperfection. In it she talks about overcoming who we think we are supposed to be by becoming who we really are. One of her “guideposts” deals with gratitude, and it just resonated deeply with me. So here I am, making this promise to myself and sharing it with the world (a.k.a. you!).
Would you like to join me in November?
This is a stress free thing. No big expectations. Just make a deliberate effort to practice gratitude for 30 days. If you journal, fill a new journal with pages of your gratitude. In your daily practice of meditation or prayer, be conscious of how richly blessed you are. Make this as public or as private as you like. If you wish to express your thanks in an art form (photos, collage, painting, mixed media) then just create to your heart’s content. And if you are a blogger you can pick up a button here.
For now, it’s back to my craft table and that visual art journal. You’ll see more of it soon!
Blessings to all of you….
