Have you noticed?
Even in the process of fading away there is unspeakable beauty to behold.

The amazing stripes of color made visible by light from the window…
Taking time.  Being present.
Drinking it all in.

  1. You know what? I had never noticed this before. Thanks for bringing to my attention. Our tulips haven't bloomed yet, this year I will pay attention.

  2. I, too, love watching the stages that flowers go through — all are lovely! It's so important to stop and take time to really notice the beauty around us.

  3. I've never understood the fascination with photographing dying flowers, BUT! Earlier this spring I bought my daughter a little pot of yellow narcissus, like tiny daffodils. It sat on our window sill as the bulbs flowered, faded, and dried on their stems. I loved every step of the process, and took photos all along the way. What made the difference? I don't know. Maybe it was just "noticing," instead of just feeling sad that they were no longer fresh and pristine. I will have to think about this. I love these photos of yours, Deb, all the shades of yellow and orange and gold. The first one is my favorite – I love the composition. The burst of color is wonderful and uplifting after days of snow and rain here.
