This word that chose me

This word that chose me….
comes back with the stealth of a cat
seeking a warm lap.
In the middle of the mundane chores of
a winter morning,
gray, and dull, and cold,
as I wipe away dirt and grime,
 this word that chose me….
touches me on the shoulder.
 And in that moment
I see that it is all good,
the dirt, the grime,
the winter morning, gray and cold,
simply because
in this moment
is all that matters.

  1. Sweet image to match the gratitude you feel. I don't choose a word, it doesn't suit me, but I enjoy seeing and reading what others have selected. BW here is excellent.
PS-no shame in jumping back in 365 at anytime, even on a sporadic basis. I enjoy seeing your photos.

  2. So true, like a cat can always find the patch of light and warmth, we can always find something to be grateful for. Beautiful image of your dear four-legged friend.

  3. A wonderful word…here is one of my favorite quotes on the subject…
"Thou hast given so much to me,
    Give one thing more, – a grateful heart;
Not thankful when it pleaseth me,
As if Thy blessings had spare days,
But such a heart whose pulse may be Thy praise."
    ~George Herbert

  4. How wonderful! I'm on day 30 of my gratitude journal now. I think it's become a habit of thinking of things throughout the day that I'll write down that evening.
