Gentle rain and summer break

rain drops on ferns

A soft, gentle rain is falling as I write this, the sound of the raindrops hitting my roof almost lulling me to sleep.  It’s a quiet summer evening that begs for relaxing with a good book.

During August I think my own personal challenge, photographically, is going to be black and white images.  These last couple of days I have fallen in love all over again with the subtle shades of gray, the textures, the shapes, the crispness of monochrome. Plus, I keep coming back to that 50mm lens – and I know several of you understand why.  That lens plus monochrome equals my idea of a fun.

For the August Break, hosted by Susannah Conway, I’ll be sharing only some images from
my archives and few words.  Thanks to technology, most all of my posts
are already scheduled and will appear about three times a week.  I’ll be
hovering around, but just not doing my normal blog post stuff.

That book is calling to me…and I think some chocolate, too.  Enjoy your August!

  1. Beautiful image! I've spent the last month with my 50mm lens and really have been impressed with it! I'll look forward to seeing both your B&W images and your August break shots!

  2. I love this image in black and white – you can really focus on the wondrous shapes of each individual leaf and the random pattern of the raindrops – beautiful! And what a great challenge – I look forward to seeing the results of your challenge.

Enjoy the chocolate and the book – a combination sure to delight.
