The glide of a canoe across the water
The sound of the oars softly splashing and guiding
The smell of the lake water
And fish and mud and charcoal
The aromas of family cookouts happening on the lake shore
Feeling the warm sun on my back
A soft summer breeze in the shade of oak trees
The fishing line tangled in the weeds at my feet
The spinning sound of the rod and reel of a fisherman nearby
My best friend at my side
Taking it all in with deep breaths
The sights and sounds of a summer day

Your words put me in that very place!
Thank you, dear friend!
Beautiful word painting to go with your lovely photo, Deb. Such a wonderful slow, summer day!
"Word painting.."
I like that description, Gina. That will stick in my mind.
That sounds lovely, Deb, especially the part about your best friend at your side…and guessing that you mean your husband.
Yes! You got it…Mark was right there with me.
You have captured it all – I can see and feel and hear and smell it, this summer day. Your poetry paints a beautiful word picture.
