Weathered barn

We all think of what the weather will be,
so we’ll know how to dress, where to travel,
what to plan.
The weather.
It takes it’s toll.  Yes, on us.
But also on everything around us.
Notice the rusty roof.
Barn boards, once red, now gray.
Paint peeling on the porch.
Tree branches in the yard.
The name of the farm owner barely visible on the side of the barn.
White paint fading from the doors.
Who is there now? Another generation of the same family?
Do they remember what it was like to look from the barn window
back to the house?

  1. If walls could talk! I feel that same nostalgia sometimes looking at old things. Your image is so evocative — I love the lines and textures.

  2. That must have been something to see when it was freshly painted that gorgeous shade of barn red. And yet, it still retains such a wonderful character, even in its weathered state. These walls definitely have ghosts 🙂

  3. Beautiful image! I love to think of the stories that old structures can tell! I noticed on the two panels to the right of the window the arched shapes. I wonder what caused that; round bales of hay maybe!
