When I look back over the last few days I’m reminded of just how fragile and precious life is. All it takes is a little old virus to knock you flat on your back for a few days to make you appreciate good health. My Mom’s diagnosis and subsequent surgery to remove cancer has left me very aware of what can so quickly unravel, what we so often take for granted.
My heart is full of gratitude today because I can tell you that Mom is doing well and hopes to return home tomorrow. There are doctors and nurses who have taken good care of her, especially nurses who have shown her compassion and love. We do not yet know what the future holds for Mom, or any of us for that matter, but we celebrate today and the progress that has been made.
Life goes on. New chapters begin. The cold that made me a zombie a few days ago is leaving. My husband took a few days off and is sawing wood for bookshelves as we speak. (We never seem to have enough book shelves.) The cats are napping in their favorite spots on our living room furniture. And I wish you could see the sun shining here this lovely autumn morning… it is just beautiful.
Speaking of lovely things, there is a website I want to share with you today, one that I came across because of the Photo Heart Connection series that many of us participate in. Indigo Janson, who currently lives in Scotland, celebrates “creativity, crafts, cats, and art, and other things that delight the heart!”. I’m both humbled and honored to be among those she lists as one of her inspirations. Please visit her site and take the time to read what she has to say. Getting updates from her in my inbox is a wonderful gift.
Kind of a rambling post today…but it is what is on my heart. Sickness and health, new chapters, and beautiful things.
Enjoy your day to the fullest.
