My 365 Project

Today I am beginning my own 365 Project, committing to take a photo every day for 365 days. This is something I have had in mind for quite a while but just didn’t know how I was going to begin.  Yesterday I found a website called Capture Your 365 hosted by Katrina Kennedy.  After reading her articles about why, how, and finding her lists of prompts for each month…I knew I had the tools to get started.

The prompt for today was “spilled”.  So I spilled the beans, literally.  I use this zip lock back full of beans as a kind of cushion to sit my camera on sometimes, especially if I want to avoid camera shake and the subject is in a low light setting.  It’s easy to carry in my camera bag.

My plan is to post a weekly update here, sharing a collage of my “365” photos for the previous week.  This will be a great opportunity for me to learn more about my camera, and to improve my photographic skills.

If a 365 project is something you have considered check out  Capture Your 365 to see what resources Katrina Kennedy has to offer.

Are you a veteran 365er? Any good advice?  I’d love to hear from you!

  1. Hi Deb,
This is a great idea for you, would LOVE to see more photos from you. I've been following her for some time now, her prompts are great. I know your version of her prompts will be AMAZING!!!

I've been thinking lately about all your photos and what you do with them. Have you ever thought of Project Life? I know you take tons of photos and this way you could have them in an album (even not PL) to enjoy looking thru and writing down a few words if you wanted to. Let me know what you think.

Sending you peace and warm wishes today.

  2. Deb – congrats on beginning your 365 Project. What a great shot – I love the composition of this image – with the abundance of white space surrounding the beans. Looking forward to following your journey.

I am two-thirds of the way through my third 365. I have never completed it perfectly – life always intervened. But I allowed myself to let that happen and to simply pick up the camera the next day. For a perfectionist like myself, that was a huge step.

  3. I am so excited for you. I've tried multiple times and never made it – but I keep restarting and retrying. Maybe one of these days I will actually hit a 365. Love the photo – and such a good idea to carry in your camera bag.

  4. I've started this project a few times & have yet to finish it. I'm definitely going to check out the link you provided & who knows, maybe I'll be joining you on completing this journey?
