Smile

Like my blogging friend, Cathy, I almost did not continue with this self portrait thing.  It is hard to do and can seem pretty silly at times.  But there are things to learn from this…and when I figure that out I’ll let you know.

I think one of those has a lot to do with learning to like yourself just as you are.
I’m workin’ on it….

  1. Deborah, these are so good! I love the "holding steady" and the "what" image makes me smile!! Great idea to put them in a collage with the captions!! I think you've hit the nail on the head!! It's difficult for me to take my own picture because I don't like what I see! And, I'm working on that too!!

  2. i agree that that is one of the reasons… a big one! if we were all perfect and posted photos of ourselves, then that would be vain. but none of us are. and embracing ourselves the way we are, flaws and all, is one of the things that makes us truly beautiful… not perfect teeth, skin, hair, or physiques. keep going! you get it!

that said, love these all. i think one way you can feel less silly {or at least one way i do} is by trying to be creative and think outside the box with my s.p. shots… to try to tell a story with them. until i did that, i felt silly posting them, too. now, when i do an outward self-portrait, i try to accompany it with an inward self-portrait… sharing about myself. that is almost more scary than sharing photos of my outer self! =)

    keep it up, deborah!

  3. I understand how silly it feels, but I love seeing these photos of you. I've always found you beautiful with some sort of an easy going yet refined appearance. I like how you focused on your mouth and and your eye/hair. Beautiful.

  4. WOW, what a great idea. I love love these photos of you!! How fun to make a collage out of them, the text on each one is a good idea. So glad you did this shared it with us.

I know it seems silly to take our own pictures but the more you do it the easier it gets. I love these photos of you and have always thought of you as pretty. That natural kinda pretty, your eyes area always happy and your smile makes me want to smile back. These are truly wonderful and you did a great job capturing different parts of you. I hope you will do this more often and love who you are just the way you are.

  5. Deb – please keep at it. While I haven't had the courage to try this myself, it means something to me to follow along on your journey. Love the smile close-up – something very "Mona Lisa" about it.

  6. these are great shots deborah, i love how you put them together. i hope you will find a way to continue to stick with this, it does get easier 🙂

thanks so much for linking up at {in the picture} this month!

  7. I think you've done a great job and I love your collage. It is hard – and I think you're right about it being about learning to like yourself just as you are. I'm finding that I'm learning the most from some of the things I am least comfortable with, selfies being one of those things. I hope you do continue and look forward to sharing the journey with you.

  8. You put your finger right on the challenge: self acceptance! I'm finding I'm learning a lot about myself in participating in this challenge. Your mosaic of selfies is lovely — well done!
