It’s His Birthday!

A year ago. Where has it gone?
That morning my daughter called,
saying “This is That Phone Call, Mom.”
Mark and I started getting packed and headed out the door.
We made the 5 hour drive to Illinois to the hospital,
in time to be there when Garrett was born.
I can not put into words what it was really like, but
this photo, taken the morning after, is filled with the light we felt in our hearts.
I took this at my brother’s home where we stayed a couple days,
waiting for Garrett’s homecoming, and so enjoying the gracious
hospitality of Todd and Marcia.
 Being good is boring.
I don’t think I need the bib to tell me that.
I think his daddy is teaching him that already…surely his
Grandma Deb would never tell him such a thing.
Just look at those eyes!
Happy Birthday, Garrett!

  1. Oh, Mom, this is wonderful! I'm reliving the date of Garrett's birth hour by hour in my mind today. (This time last year, the epidural was kickin' in!) Can't wait to celebrate with you here!

  2. Deb,
Happy Birthday to your grandson! Those are some beautiful baby blues!

Isn't being a grandmother the best? Our little guy is now almost 2 1/2 – the only bad thing is that he is over 8 hours away so we don't get to see him as much as we would like.

  3. Oh, he is such a cutie, Deb! I love the early years when they learn to walk and talk. There is such joy in being a grandparent! We are going to see our newest grandbaby tomorrow and I'm so excited — it's amazing how you can fall in love with a baby!

  4. How sweet is that face and I love fun bibs like this one. Don't let those baby blues fool you for a minute, in no time he will live up to that bib.

Enjoy your time with the family and celebrating. I love love reliving each of my kids BIRTH-DAY.
