Gathering Basket

Kat Sloma has a great article on Exploring With A Camera: Finding Form and invites us to share images that emphasize that topic.  I especially like her discussion of how the type of light used to capture an image makes all the difference in what is brought out.  If you follow that link I just shared you’ll see photos shared by others that are so well done.

This photo I’m sharing here, of an old gathering basket, is just one example of using available light to show the curves and dimensions of an object.  If I had left the camera in auto mode the flash would have fired and the results would be totally different.

Kat has many good articles on photography, sharing her own excellent images as well as her art and writing.  She is also the sponsor of the “Liberate Your Art Postcard Swap” noted on the left side of this page.  There is still time to sign up!

  1. Thanks for the kind works Deborah! I really love this image. You captured so much form in that basket – really wonderful light! I'm so happy you are participating in Exploring with a Camera.
