Did you know that there can be thunder and lightening during a snow storm? We had yet another winter storm come through last night and what woke me up was thunder. I really can’t recall ever hearing thunderstorm sounds during a snowstorm.
We did get about five more inches of white stuff and a little ice thrown in, and, oh, some strong winds, too. All that added up to a level 2 emergency this morning, which prompted my boss to send me a text and let me know I had a Snow Day. Yay!
By late afternoon the sky was clear blue, the temperature was up and stuff started melting. My camera called to me all day, so I used it a lot and took a brief walk in our neighborhood to get a few photos. All these photos in this post are from that walk today.
My favorite image from today is the squirrel tracks in the snow, mostly because that was the only imprint in the snow at that spot so far. Snow is lovely when it is not trampled, like a beautiful blanket, or a big layer of whipped cream on the ground.
It’s not that many more weeks until Spring, but no doubt there will be more snow, more ice, more rain, and we will all be weary of it…even me. Here we are, though, and the choice is either be miserable about it or look for the silver lining, the beauty, the good in all of this.
Yeller has the right idea. Find a blanket to lay on or under, and just take a nap. Take several consecutive naps. Then when the Humans are ready to sleep, run through the house like a wild tiger, grab their ankles, and make them play with you.
Hard to imagine that when he looks so peaceful here, right?
